Coughing-induced insomnia

It's 4:30 a.m. here and I haven't been to sleep yet. This darn cough just doesn't quit long enough for me to fall asleep. I took some Robitussin a little while ago; hopefully it will kick in soon.

We took the kids to see the Lemony Snicket movie tonight (Friday). I found it mildly amusing. My kids haven't read the books yet. I read the first one back in September on our way home from a trip to the Mall of America. Our hotel gave out free copies of the books. I wasn't overly impressed with it. The "unfortunate events" really got old. I can't imagine reading every single book in the series.

Hoping to get started wrapping presents this weekend. Otherwise, Christmas Eve will be a very long night. Could be another night like tonight, with or without coughing.

Update: I finally fell asleep around 5am.... and Joel woke me up at 8. We'll see how long 3 hours lasts.

I read the first Lemony Snickett book, and then half of the 2nd. Yep, the gloom and doom gets old real fast. I'm not even sure I want to see the movie...

I was wondering about that movie... what age is it for? Would it be ok for a 7 year old boy? The ads make it seem like a comedy, but I have read one of the books and it was pretty dark...

My kids are ages 4, 6, 9, and 13... and all 4 of them watched it with no problems. There is plenty of humor, although much of it comes from the baby's subtitled remarks.
