Party Time!

(I'm sticking this post at the top until party week is over... scroll down for new posts!)

It's a week of partying as I jump in and join the Ultimate Blog Party hosted by the gals at 5 minutes for Mom. Susan and Janice have invited everyone to stop by and get to know each other, and you're invited too... So grab a diet Mountain Dew and mingle with the others! Directions for how to join the party can be found by clicking the links or the graphic in my sidebar (doesn't it look like that graphic was just made for my place?? It goes so well!)

If this is your first visit here, I'll give you the quick 411 on me. I'm Karen.... mom to 4 kids and wife to a very busy US Air Force nurse anesthetist. We're on the last leg of his military career, stationed in northern CA for the next 3 years (we've been here almost 2 already). This has been our toughest move yet, as we are midwesterners; culture shock hit us smack dab in the face and I'm still working to clean it off! We are also homeschoolers; my 3 youngest are at home with me, while my oldest began her freshman year at a local Christian school this year. When I'm not being Mom or teacher, I like to spend my time reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching movies/TV, or hanging out with cool people like you online. Thanks for stopping in!!

I stopped in from The Blog Party. I like your blog! I especially like your quote on the sidebar. So true!

I like the name of your blog. A dog is definitely a part of the family...and can be harder than a kid, at least when they are young. What a fun party!

Well, Hello, and so nice to meet you! Another mid-westerner here; I think today is a day that you can be happy to be out of the winter snow storm that just came through--20 inches of snow, Interstate 35 closed down from Albert Lea, Minnesota to Ames, Iowa! So this a.m., I am sitting comfortably in my p.j.'s and robe, with laptop in tow, just doing a little party-hopping! Consider yourself cordially invited to hop on over to my party when you get the chance.

Thanks for stopping by my party--we are Air Force as well. I have a very good friend who is finishing up his nurse anestithist training. He is so ready to be finished. We homeschool too--this is our last year, though, after ten years. I just felt like it was time for a break and something different. I enjoyed visiting your blog. Have fun at the party!

Hi Karen, it's so nice to "meet" you at this huge blog party! I haven't done a puzzle in ages (somehow, having a 9-month-old has put a damper on that activity), but I love them too and am looking forward to the day when I do another one. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Enjoy the party!

I love puzzles!! I can't imagine being a midwesterner and being "stuck" in CA! I know it's pretty and all...but you have to be where you're comfy too.

Sounds like you all stay busy with your homeschooling and such. We are busy too...life with teens can be so INTERESTING can't it??

Hope you'll swing by my blog party too.

Blessings.

:-) Susan

Hi, Karen! I'm another Ultimate Blog Partier, but I actually got to your site from a comment you left on BooMama's blog -- you mentioned not using your WW points on fried chicken and I thought, "Now there's a kindred spirit!" ;) I'm a Weight Watcher, too -- hope you're having all kind of success.

It's good to meet you! Come by and visit sometime!

So wonderful to meet you! I have such respect for homeschooling moms. At this point, my son is just beginning the world of education and I am not planning on homeschooling unless the Lord tells me to!! I don't think it is my gifting. But I sure respect those of you who have the gift!!!

I also have soooo much respect for you military families. You sacrifice so much - thank you!!! (I never understand why they move you all around so much!! Why can't they leave you close to home?!?!?)

Tonya said...

Hi nice to meet you! I have family in the military and for some reason they haven't move them at all?!?! Weird.

Howdy from KS from a Navy brat. I understand the moving... I went to CA last year and just in that short time, I had to admit that it was an entirely different world. But the beaches were beautiful and people were gracious and kind, so I had a fabulous experience.

Where will you go when your man is retired? I'm sure you've got plans...

Happy to meet you via the party!
